Spiked Blocked Volume 3 Jennifer Lane 9780997997002 Books Reviews
- Finally, MATEO has arrived. I must begin by saying that this book has left me in a book hangover and it has been a week and I can’t get myself to start another book. Yes, this book is that good!!!!
Where do I even begin? At the beginning sounds good. Mateo met Jessica two years ago, she made an impact and he never forgot the girl with the curls he wanted to make go “boingâ€. He is finally able to be close enough to see her, they are at the same school, and his sister is dating her brother. When he finally sees her, he is flooded by emotions and yet leaves when she is about to need him the most. Had he known what was to come he would have stayed.
Jennifer Lane takes us on a journey of pain, acceptance, and love. Mateo and Jessica don’t have easy lives, he has his health to deal with and she a pain so deep she needs to find healing. Healing she finds in Mateo, who knew how valuable, strong, smart and sexy Mateo would be. Regardless of his struggles with his health, he makes Jessica top priority, alongside his music. She is his muse and his words and music are nothing short of amazing, when you find the one they seem to inspire you.
Mateo finally gets what he’s been longing for, a chance with the girl that makes his heart beat. The chemistry is alive with these two; it’s so strong it is felt through the pages. Mateo and Jessica are each other’s better half, he finally feels wanted and needed. She finally feels safe and at home. Together they are PERFECT!
Jennifer Lane, the author who makes us FEEL like we are a part of the world she creates. Spiked is the perfect end to a beautiful series. Thank you for Mateo and thank you for bringing awareness to the struggles of living with Type One Diabetes. May all the Mateo’s in the world find their Jessica - --Sigh--
With this book, we say goodbye to the Ramirez and Monroe families, and it was a fine farewell.
This book focuses on the romance between the two youngest siblings, Mateo and Jessica. They had met previously, and there had been a little spark, and finally they were together at Highbanks. As with the previous books, there are some BIG issues involved in the plot. I liked that Lane selected this issue as one of the focal points, because it's an issue that demands open and honest discussions. Jessica's trauma was so real, and I loved the way everyone rallied and supported her. Teo also had to adjust to college life, and keep his diabetes under control as well. Again, family and friends were there to lend support, and encourage him to make good choices when it came to his health.
Then, there was the beautiful friendship between Mateo and Jessica. The way they valued each other and treated each other was quite special. Teo helped Jessica heal, and Jessica helped Teo feel that there was more to him than his diabetes. He helped her through her nightmares and PTSD episodes. She encouraged him with his music and helped him not feel "less than".
The real treat for us Blocked fans was the ending. The story for this book wrapped up before the ending, but Lane gave us a few more chapters. Those chapters were just for the fans. They gave us closure, and let us get a peek into the future of our three couples. Yeah, I smiled a lot those last few chapters.
Overall a great ending to an NA series I throughly enjoyed. - This story started out breaking my heart which the author is really good at...conduct series nearly broke me ...and she struck again here. Although what happens to Jessica is a worse nightmare scenario which churned my emotions to HIGH which involves lots of curse words and calling SSS ..well more than SSS lol but words that can't be said or written here. But we take that journey with her and how she evolves and deals with her ordeal. I love how with help and support from various people she begins to heal and you see the sweet relationship that was only hinted in the previous books become more in this book but no less sweet and caring between Mateo and Jessica. I love stories where you go through all kinds of emotions from anger to laughs and back again through another detour and Jen Lane is great at those hence me loving her books. Another great series!! I am always sad at the end of series but I am always hopeful that more is coming, even with Naughty Nina 😉
- Spiked is a new adult romance told from two perspectives the son of the U.S. President and an aspiring Olympic swimmer. It's also the third in the series, but it stands on its own, so you don't have to read the other two first. When the female protagonist, Jessica, is raped at a college party (very early in the book), she has some serious healing to do. As you can imagine, this book tackles some heavy issues, but the author does so in a compassionate, healing way that has you falling in love with both characters. This is like no other new adult romance you've read!
- It's with a sad heart I say goodbye to the Ramirez and Monroe family. I have loved all three books in this series but this one touched a chord with me. Once again Jennifer Lane weaves serious issues into her story and this time, she actually did it with both the heroine, Jessica and the hero, Mateo. A beautifully well written love story that has all the feels. Frankly, it should be required reading for all young women. I'm sorry this series has come to an end but look forward to reading more from this author. She's on my must buy list.
- This book does not disappoint. What a great third installment bringing it all together. Loved that it dealt with such an important issue many of us have connection to. Thanks and looking forward to where you will take us next!
