- Joan Johnston is by far my most favorite romance/suspense writer ever! The way she weaves her tales of romance, suspense and intrigue amazes me. What interests me the most about her books is how spot on and attention to detail she is. Her stories touch you right from the very first page whether it is about a Creed, a Whitlaw, a Grayhawk, a Blackthorne; you become so invested in the stories you cannot wait until the next book comes out.
I started out reading all of her Hawk's Way Series from the very first one which was "Honey and the Hired Hand" and have continued on through the Bitter Creek Series. - Love Joan Johnston's books!
- This book is a part one of two in the series. The characters were involved with each other from both past and present. The plot moves quickly and has many twists and turns,keeping the reader's attention throughout. The book ends with a wedding, but the pair engaged may not make it to the altar.

- I loved this book so much that after I finished reading it I immediately ordered "The next Mrs. Blackthorne", the sequel. It just arrived and I started reading it, and I really like it alot! I usually read Norah Robert's books, (I am so spoiled by her amazing writing!) Unfortunatley I have read all the Norah Roberts books, as well as her "J.D. Robb" books, so it is nice to find a new author that I enjoy!
- I enjoy western/cowboy style writing and she is good
- I really enjoyed the mystery that was so much of the story. Was glad Drew met and fell in love with Sandra after what happen in the other book.
- Joan Johnston never disappoints with her stories. The plot keeps you reading to find out what is going to happen next. The family history is always interesting and she weaves a great romantic theme.
